Why the workshop? 这个工作组的介绍Since the 1960s, architectural lighting design has been taking on an increasing role in the general architectural design of a building or area. The lighting designer's role is to illuminate the locale he or she is contracted to do in such a way that reflects the moods inherent in the place, its history, and its purpose. In doing all of this, the lighting designer faces the difficult task of creating a design that fades into the background - the design should not appear "forced". You have perhaps seen many a building which has seen the hand of a professional architectural lighting designer and never even knew it. Since one of the principal aims of ELDA+ is to raise awareness of the lighting designer's profession, this poses something of a dilemma.
The workshops, including this one in Alingsås, Sweden, go some way to remedying this problem, by bringing attention to the work of the lighting designer. At the same time, the workshops offer lighting designers, both experienced and learning, a chance to learn more, gain practical experience and impart their experience and knowledge.
Visitors to Alingsås and the town inhabitants had the opportunity to learn about lighting design as a profession and see some amazing examples of lighting design in practice.

Brunnsparken is a beautiful place, but the site is frequently used as an alleyway. The workshop group wanted the residents of Alingsås to see this park in a new way. They wanted to create a place that would draw people in to explore, not just pass through.
Divided into groups, the workshop students developed concepts for outlining the boundaries if the site, picking out the main features of the site and creating a warm centre to draw the onlooker into the space. The Afzelli School

The Afzeliiskolan site comprises the vacant school and the surrounding area. The lighting task was to work on the architectural structure as opposed to a landscape scene.
The lighting concept was based on the history and architectural characteristics of the school. Time, layers and transition were the keywords in the design process. Everyone was interested in using lighting as a means of telling a story. The outcome is a framed story presenting the transition from a state school to a private apartment building. The story is told through dynamic lighting in the windows and is framed by the exterior lighting. The Yard

The site is a very long and narrow space, the yard behind houses on the main shopping street in Alingsas. The buildings in the yard are typically Swedish in their design and materials. The group worked with the existing textures and different colour temperatures which relate to natural light. They focussed on the relationship between inside and outside the yard, picking out details and working with light and shadows for effect.
